BIOGRAPHY & DESCRIPTION
Adam Ruben is a writer, comedian, storyteller, and molecular biologist. For over a decade, he has performed at clubs, colleges, and private venues across the country, including at some of the best-known storytelling shows and comedy clubs. He is the author of Surviving Your Stupid, Stupid Decision to Go to Grad School (Random House, 2010), a satirical guide to the low points and, well, lower points of post-baccalaureate education.

For nine years, Adam has taught an undergraduate stand-up comedy class that has quickly become one of the most popular January "Intersession" courses at Johns Hopkins University. He writes the humor column "Experimental Error" in the otherwise respectable journal Science; he has also been seen and heard on the Food Network's "Food Detectives," the Science Channel's "Head Rush," and NPR's "All Things Considered." He currently co-hosts the Discovery Channel's new show, "You Have Been Warned," which premiered internationally in late 2012 and in the United States in April 2013 (under the name "Outrageous Acts of Science" on the Science Channel).

His one-man show, "Please Don't Beat Me Up: Stories and Artifacts from Adolescence" debuted to rave reviews at the Capital Fringe Festival in July 2011 and was named one of the top five solo shows of 2011 by Maryland Theatre Guide. In addition to his day job developing a malaria vaccine at Sanaria Inc., Adam travels the world, performing his show as part of anti-bullying programs and talking about his book to audiences of disaffected grad students.

Adam has performed with Kevin Nealon, Jake Johannsen, Ben Bailey, Bob Marley, Larry Miller, John Pinette, Greg Giraldo, Kathleen Madigan, Sue Murphy, Brett Leake, Jake Johannsen, George Wallace, Jim Gaffigan, ANT, Ty Barnett, Tony Woods, Bob Sommerby, Mickey Cucchiella, Freddie Roman, Dan Ahdoot, Jeff Caldwell, "Coach" Tom Whitely, Raymond the Amish Comic, Bob Levy, the comics of Dane Cook's "Tourgasm," and many others.
